Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Appliance manufacturers recommend dryer vents be cleaned on a yearly basis. Why?

For one, safety – older dryers are the major cause of house fires. Lint is extremely combustible.

Efficiency is another reason. Newer dryers are designed to shut off the heating element when the vent is clogged to prevent a fire. So, if your clothes are not drying, before calling an appliance repairperson or purchasing a new dryer, have us check the dryer vent. We can not tell you the number of times we were called to clean a dryer vent AFTER the homeowner paid a repairperson to come out or purchased a new dryer only to find the new dryer didn’t work because of a clogged dryer vent.

Electricity cost is another consideration. Does it take an hour to dry clothes that used to take 20 minutes? Are you repeating the drying cycle 2 or 3 times before the clothes get dry? Dryers use great deal of electricity or gas when running. Clean dryer vents increase the dryer’s efficiency, thereby saving energy costs.

Be sure to have a cage or door on your dryer vent to prevent birds and rodents from nesting in the warmth of the dryer vent. This is a reason why the cost of cleaning a dryer vent varies based on the nature of the clog and the length of the dryer vent line.

We not only clean the dryer vent, but also inside the dryer. When lint covers a thermostat, it stops functioning, therefore clothes stop drying.
